Beautiful & historic… visited several times & Christmas is favorite…due to the disaster, effort on recovery limited the gingerbread at the inn, but allowed Asheville businesses to showcase them… we spent a day also at Biltmore and some of the family went downtown. Kudos to Vinnies, it won the restaurant family choice

Dinner at the Genesis restaurant was grossly overpriced for the poor quality and service. In stark contrast to lunch on the balony, which was fine. Our room was in very old part of the hotel facing the entrance. Very small closet, very clumsy (potentially dangerous) step-up from bedroom to the tiled bathroom floor. Tub/shower also very old, difficult for seniors to navigate in and out safely. It was historically interesting, like stepping back 100 years in time (minus the TV) - but not comfortable and extremely overpriced. Also, we were charged for parking even when we self-parked in the outdoor lot and walked about 300 yards to the hotel entrance. Also surprised that the breakfast was buffet style with limited service at the table. The hotel seemed to cater to business groups that were probably expensing to their companies the extravagent costs. It was an interesting experience, but I'm glad my stay was brief and I would not return as a guest here.

My plan was to rest, relax my mind, because I had been through difficult times, in a place that made me feel comfortable and safe. Unfortunately, that was not the case, since I was chased by a bear within the hotel facilities. Despite remaining calm and another guest who happened to be there at that time, he tried to yell for the bear to back away, but it didn't. he chased us from the bottom until we reached the top, and managed to enter the hotel, and the bear also arrived and tried to enter the restaurant. Hotel security didn't notice until the bear arrived upstairs. I am very disappointed with what happened and above all that no one came to ask me if I was fine? or give me emotional support fort the bad time I had just been through or give me any explanation. This made me feel sad and unsure of where I was. Days later I spoke with a supervisor, and I was more disappointed with the response given, I asked to speak with the manager, he told me that he was not there but that he would call me on Monday, which months have passed and I did not receive that call.

Great restaurants for dinner at the resort! The views were beautiful. Rooms comfortable and fireworks display on the 3rd and the Fourth of July was an added bonus. very helpful staff.

Rooms were good size and clean. The windows also opened, which is so rare these days. The views from the restaurants were stunning, and the menus at the Edison had enough variety to satisfy all palates. We had to move our reservation due to time constraints, and they were very accommodating. They also were able to fulfill our request to sit outside, and we were treated to a fantastic sunset over the mountains.
